HOW1 and HOW2 die plates

Reliable and resistant, these exceptional quality finishing high-tech die-plates match performance and longevity. With designs ranging from 1000 Kg/H to 80 Tons/H,
they out perform any other type of die plates in terms of uninterrupted production periods.

Inventor of the tungsten carbide cylinder cutting face in 1978, AMN is the only manufacturer to master this surface. Today, AMN sells its die plates throughout the world, for all types of polymers and up to the biggest extruders (80 T/h).

STRUCTURE : The body of the die plate is monobloc. The heating circuit is being machined from the block. Thermo-mechanical calculations are made according to finite elements analysis method which guarantees resistance to distortion (up to 250 bars).

CUTTING FACE : Its longevity is exceptional (5 to 10 years depending on the polymer). After one year in production, the cutting face stays geometrically flat (no grooves like with ferrotic).
With the latest AMN carbide assembly innovations, we guarantee our cutting faces for 5 years against wearing, erosion, loss or breakage of the carbides.

INSULATION « API System » : AMN is the only manufacturer to implement insulation by creating a vacuum. The break of thermal conductivity is being assured by a vacuum located just above the heating channels, which creates a thermal barrier with the cooling water. It concentrates the heating fluid towards polymer flow holes. Combined with the insulation disc developed by AMN, the « API System » guarantees an under water start-up.

THE HEATING CIRCUIT « HOW System » : Created in 1989, the HOW system allows circulation of heating fluid, totally mastered (no preferential flow), which offers total thermal homogeneity. AMN sets up simulations in order to determine the speed of the heating fluid flow, and calculates the ΔP. The HOW, associated with the circular manifold developed by AMN guarantees a ΔT lower than 1°C.

HOW 2 – « CIS System » : This version has the same features as the classic HOW, on which a water injection is being added through the centre of the die-plate. Totally isolated from the body of the die plate, this device injects water which is canalized by the knife-holder ACE 2 on the cutting face from the inside to the outside cutting strip, and makes cutting of high MFI polymer easier.

QUALITY : The AMN die plates are manufactured following strict quality procedures regarding the dimensional checkings, pressure tests and regarding the quality finishing of the polymer flow holes, which are calibrated at 5 microns. Checkings using conventional and fibre optic endoscopy are made to confirm absence of retention zones. What differentiates AMN die-plates from the competition is their precision and regularity of « granulometry ».

SERVICES : Our die plates are delivered with installation, maintenance and utilisation manuals. Our technical department is available to answer any of your questions throughout the entire life span of your die-plate as is our maintenance department which has at its disposal all necessary means to assess your materia
